Idlewine is your very own, friendly and approachable wine club and boutique wine merchant. We are based in Notting Hill and are bringing back the romance of wine and the genuine customer service you used to be offered at your local shop. We don’t ever want to feel like an online supermarket and we will make sure your experience with us is as bespoke and personal as possible.
Our goal is to make buying and enjoying wine a fun, sociable and easy experience. We are an open door to a handpicked cellar of amazing wines and a source of easy wine knowledge in an industry that loves to bamboozle and too often confuse.
Richard Horsley, our Director has spent over a decade immersed in almost every aspect and category of the wine industry. After studying Oenology and Viticulture, Richard has assisted as a winemaker in wineries and vineyards in Tasmania, Margret River and in Emilia Romagna, Italy. To compliment this ‘hands on’ experience Richard also spent several years as a Wine Buyer and educator for the largest wine club in Australia, The Wine Society, and has written regular articles for different wine publications. Richard’s knowledge, experience and most importantly passion for wine will be at your service. He loves the stuff.
In terms of how we select the wines we offer, our modus operandi is simple. We ask ourselves the following questions: Would I want to drink this wine? Would I be happy to have this wine in my cellar? Would I be happy to pay the price being offered? Is this an authentic wine, i.e., does it taste of the place where it was grown? Is it a wine that has been made with integrity and sensitivity, as naturally as possible? If the answer to these questions is a resounding "Yes!" then we buy the wine and offer it.
You can speak to our sommelier on the phone or on-line to recommend a great wine to serve with dinner or to buy a wine loving friend as a gift. If you are local, you can visit the wine cave at The Clarendon bar and restaurant and try fine wines from our sampling machine.
To all those living in West London, you can have your wine delivered be the incredible idlewine tuk tuk. Directly from Italy, this beautiful little machine will have your wine delivered safely and on time. Wines are delivered by an idlewine sommelier that will be happy to talk you through your selection and suggest several fantastic food matches for your wines.
The Idlewine team are all young wine lovers and we wanted to create a community as well as a successful business selling great wine.
